My Aspen Wrap is coming along slowly but nicely. I adore the cable pattern and the way it makes a curvy line down one side. The yarn is so wonderful to hold that I end up wasting time by stopping to feel and admire my work at the end of each row, haha - tell me I'm not the only one that does this!
The pattern is really simple to remember, too - a 12 row repeat, so I can watch a film or listen to a radio show whilst I knit away, happily.
I'd really like to get moving with my Christmas knitting projects but I don't know when I'll be able to start as I'm really behind on my afghan blanket squares. There just aren't enough knitting hours in the day at the moment.
It's a similar story with reading this week - I've started several books and put them down again as I just haven't had the head space to concentrate properly. Hopefully things will calm down into a routine soon and I wont have quite so much swimming around in my brain.
What are you reading and knitting this week? Have you started Christmas crafting, yet?
I'm always in awe of your knitting I love the colour
ReplyDeleteThanks, Becky! You could so do this, you know. It would make a great first cable pattern.
Deleteoh gosh I don’t know about that! not knitted this whole summer so I think I'm going to have to re-learn the basics! That said, it is something I'm going to pick back up over Autumn/Winter, made a decision to not go with a full crafted Christmas this year as previous 2 has been really stressful trying to get everything done. I’m going to enjoy working on personal projects instead :-)
DeleteBeautiful knitting! I have been telling myself to sit down and figure out Christmas knitting since July, but I haven't done it yet, and the days are slipping away! I am hoping to get a few free minutes to start today :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heather.
DeleteI'm glad I'm not the only late starter!
Yes, I have thought about Christmas knitting! Have knitted two scarves and one and a half socks so far! Love the wrap the cables are beautiful have not tried them yet, will give them a go one day!
ReplyDeleteThank you :o)
DeleteYou're so organised!
Christmas knitting is under way here too although it keeps getting a bit neglected. Your wrap is gorgeous, that cable section looks so warm and snuggly.
ReplyDeleteThank you :o)
Deleteyour wrap is gorgeous!! drop dead gorgeous!!
ReplyDeletechristmas knitting?? a couple hats and a couple fingerless mitts are stashed and done; miles to knit before I'm done, though.
Thanks, steph!
DeleteSo many organised people, I need to pull my finger out and get knitting.
Oh my, your wrap is stunning! Such a lovely color and pattern.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anke :O)
DeleteI know I have said it before but I just love the color of that yarn. I haven't really gotten into Christmas knitting yet. I had some ideas but I have to see what I really want to commit to.
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous, isn't it, Donna? I can't wait to wear it!
DeleteI'm a bit blah, too - haven't been inspired by anything yet.
Your wrap is so beautiful! I'm working on my Christmas list so that I can get started on the knitted items. I'm feeling ambitious and inclined to make my youngest a little farm set...we shall see! I found you through the link up, I'm sharing toddler leg warmers and my mama scarf this week.
ReplyDeleteOoh, a knitted farm set - I attempted one of those a few years back.
DeleteThis is just gorgeous. Here is my link for keeping calm and crafting on! http://thislifeofmineplus2.blogspot.ca/2012/09/wip-wednesday.html
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sara :o)
DeletePretty colour - the cables look amazing there on the edge.
ReplyDeleteNo Christmas knitting here yet, though I have been thinking about it.
Enjoy your delicious yarn.
Thank you - Don't they just? Those cabled edges have surprised me!
DeleteOh I am loving the pattern, and the color is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you :o)
DeleteI love the cabling. Your work is beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :o)
DeleteWow! Beautiful. I'm starting to knit more, going to do some baby leg warmers for friend's sprogs for Christmas. Still wading through birthday presents for now! Oh, and I'm crocheting a Toothless (still!)
ReplyDeleteBaby leg warmers - what an excellent project idea!
DeleteWow! I love your knitting :-) I'm getting into knitting more, but still wading through birthday presents! Hoping to knit some baby leg warmers and chainmail for friend's sprogs (I know *far* to many small people). Still crocheting Toothless...he's been on hiatus. Not even had time to blog!
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful. I don't stop every row, exactly, but I do catch myself admiring my work as I go along, too. I am also having a reading slow down with the changing schedules of school. It is getting better here so hopefully you will be able to find your routine too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julia :o)
DeleteLove the colour!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mel :o)
DeleteThe wrap looks like it will be very cosy!
ReplyDeleteI started Christmas knitting a little while ago (I have to take it carefully because of my hands). I've finished a Multnomah shawl, so far, but need to block it (something I should do today!) I'm planning to start on a cowl (can't remember the name of it off-the-top-of-my head).
I hope so, Nikki - it's so soft!
DeleteWell done on being organised.
I began as a weaver and we would always call that desire to feel the textile the Weavers' Handshake. I think it applies to knitters as well!
ReplyDeleteWeaver's Handshake - I love it!
