Off the needles...

Today for Yarn Along, I'm excited because I get to show something that is finished!  Remember that pattern that was supposed to be a table runner but we all agreed would work better as a scarf?  Well, it's finally off the needles and I'm excited to show it to you.

Finished lace scarf

I used the exact yarn and needles recommended in the pattern so I'm a little bit baffled about how this ever could have been a table runner but I like it as a scarf.  I'm still in love with the chocolate/aubergine cotton yarn.  The 12 row lace repeat was challenging enough to keep me interested but also easy enough to knit with a film or during a conversation.
More details on my Ravelry project page.

A quick Vinelle update: the sleeves are finished and attached!  I did it wrong the first time and had to unpick over a thousand stitches to correct it - usually when I make a mistake like that I frog the entire thing and begin again, which is one of the reasons I usually shy away from larger projects.  I think I twisted a few stitches whilst picking back but it's not noticeable.
I'm now working the raglan decreases up towards the neck - maybe I will have it finished for next weeks Yarn Along?   Exciting stuff!

The knitted home

With cardigan knitting, school holidays, home ed groups, taking the kitten to the vet and decorating Cameron's bedroom this week I haven't done any reading - I'm not even managing to get through my facebook feed, let alone get stuck into a book!

However, today I picked up The Knitted Home: hand-knitted projects room by room at the library and it's wonderful - I rarely pick up a book of knitting patterns and feel inspired to knit more than half of the projects so I have a feeling that I will be renewing and renewing this book until I can squeeze as much time as I can out of it!

What are you knitting/reading this week?
