Here in Finland, St. Valentine's Day is Ystävä...

Here in Finland, St. Valentine's Day is Ystävänpäivää which translates as Friends Day....and it is a day for everyone to give a card or a gift to a friend. It is not for lovers at all. As a Brit, I therefore find it hard to locate a decent lovey dovey card for my darling husband... so always make mine instead. It is no where near as commercialised here, as it is in the UK.

We don't do Valentines Day, it feels too cheesy. I dislike the commercial side of it and yuk to single red roses - bit naffy if you ask me. I like hearts - that's about it. This year I bought a tin of sweets for myself but that was b/c the heart tin was so adorable. I will bother for my son though and make him things like heart pizza :) when he's a little bit older. That would be cute

I'm envious of him. I enjoyed my six months of being home schooled, it was an amazing time and I returned to school no more behind than anyone else - fair enough it was only six months.
