It's less than three weeks until Yarndale and in amongst my preparations I just had to make time to craft a tea cosy for the Tea Cosy Challenge!
Seeing as my involvement in Yarndale is all about Christmas I decided that my tea cosy had to have a Christmas theme and then I serendipitously stumbled on this pattern for a Christmas tree tea cosy which seemed like a perfect choice!
The tea cosy is made in layers with a stockinette base and garter stitch "points" - some using short rows for shaping.
I ditched the knitted star and added one of Lucy's teeny tiny stars, mostly to save time. The star was made with two different strands of yarn to bulk it up a bit. I also crocheted the bobbles using the same technique as my crocheted mistletoe garland from this book.
(ignore the red bit poking though - I don't have a big teapot so I stuffed it with yarn to get a better picture)
A tea cosy is a really great way to use up small amounts of stash yarn and there are so many cute designs!
I'm posting mine off tomorrow but there is still some time left to join in with the challenge if you fancy a go and it benefits a great cause, too.
I can't wait to see all of the entries on display at Yarndale.
As I'm joining in with Yarn Along today I will tell you about what I'm reading, too. I finished Turning Pro which is such an inspirational book for anyone that suffers (as I do) with procrastination, self-doubt and self sabotage. I started the book right at the beginning of Summer and because I've been so busy I have been dipping in and out but I think that's the best way to read it - drip feeding the idea into your consciousness about taking a professional approach to life. It's had a big impact on the way I use my time, and not just for work.
I have downloaded The Yarn Whisperer for my next read and I am really looking forward to diving into it.
Baubles, baubles and more baubles are on my agenda for the rest of the week and I have some really great Christmas patterns and ideas to share with you next week.
What are you crafting and/or reading at the moment?
