Happy birthday to me,
My shawl is fin-ished, finally!
I'm joining in with Ginny's Yarn Along today after a couple of weeks break (because there's only so many ways you can say 'I'm still knitting my shawl'...) and I can finally show you the finished article.
If you haven't seen it before this is The Aspen Wrap (Ravelry link), not a free pattern, but worth the money in my opinion - I didn't have a single problem with the pattern - and it's a lot easier than it looks.
The alpaca/mulberry silk yarn is still absolutely, luxuriously wonderful and I feel all soft and special when I wear it which is not a feeling I often get, from articles of clothing!
This week I'm doing marathon afghan square knitting because I am now months behind on my year-round afghan project. I am not allowing myself to cast on anything new (including Christmas gifts) until those squares are up to date which means I know I will soar through them at lightening speed.
This week I have been reading another Yarn Harlot book which has been great because the short chapters lend themselves well to my hectic pace and who doesn't love a bit of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee?
I turn 31 today. This time last year I was such a wreck about turning 30 and now it seems so long ago.
I started my day with green juice and a hot bubble bath with some of this. When I finish writing, the day will get a bit less glamorous as I work, bake my own birthday cake and clean the house for visitors!
What are you knitting/reading this week?
