On Saturday morning we ran errands (including pre-ordering a much awaited, and saved for, new Pokemon game - just a few more days to wait, Cameron!) and a great chance to chat before swimming lessons. The afternoon was spent gardening. My overwintering plants are looking OK so far, fingers crossed.
On Saturday evening we made kale crisps and settled down together to watch the Hungry for Change film which was really eye opening for both of us and led to Cameron deciding to drop his usual morning cereal and switch to green smoothies with me. We also ordered a juicer which I'm very excited about!
Sunday began with a lovely walk, checking out the autumnal changes and searching for conkers (is there a conker shortage where you are, too?).
We were enchanted by some gorgeous Scottie dogs at the park that looked just like fluffy, beardy Moomins!
I'm especially enjoying chatting with Cameron at the moment, he's in such a great place - one minute we can be walking among the trees and making up stories with our imaginations and the next we can be having such a deep and grown up conversation. He is such a joy to spend time with.
Chicken miso ramen was requested for Sunday dinner and so our home filled with the aroma of bubbling broth - so comforting! - and much knitting was done whilst we discussed the wives of King Henry VIII to complete Cameron's homework.
In the midst of it all I dug my flannelette bedding out and it was such a cosy treat to slip between the sheets when all of my chores were completed on Sunday evening.
Despite the chill in the air, the sun is shining again this morning and I'm feeling optimistic for the week ahead. How was your weekend?

Oh I just ordered some flannel bedding that we had been saving up for. This weekend was restorative for us too
ReplyDeleteIt's such a treat - well worth saving for! I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend :o)

Aww, happy birthday wishes to your littlest girl!
DeleteI love flanelette bedding so much, I hope you manage to find some :O)
Your weekend sounds lovely :-) Which juicer did you go for in the end? I’m hoping for a new one for Christmas, maybe one of the Phillips ones. We went to our usual conker collecting place recently where we have been known to come home with bags full, this time we collected around 10! Lots of acorns though, not sure what’s going on there, think your right that maybe the weather has something to do with it
ReplyDeleteHi Becky
DeleteI was anticipating some birthday cash so I went for a mid-range Phillips one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000VVUBZC/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=homebakeeduc-21&camp=2902&creative=19466&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B000VVUBZC&adid=1FB94S7ACM3A3Z7X48EQ&
It seemed to have good reviews. I like it so far but I don't have any other juicer experiences to compare it to!
sounds lovely. I have to say we have not found many conkers this Autumn so far and to be honest the weather has been so wet that the usual conker hunting has been rained off many, many times :-(
ReplyDeleteHi Pip - the weather has been quite miserable, hasn't it? I think that's why the sunshine was so appreciated.
Deleteflannel bedding? That sounds cozy! We just turned on the heat the other day and it was wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteFlannelette - like brushed cotton.
DeleteIt is nice to have heat on once the evenings get chilly, isn't it?
Forget my weekend, I want yours! I love how you notice the seasons, I really need that at the moment. Off apple picking tomorrow and then I am going to look for autumn just like you so. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jules - apple picking sounds wonderful, I haven't found anywhere that we can manage to get to on public transport, yet.
DeleteI hope you find some Autumn and that it's magical for you x
Sounds like a lovely weekend. I really enjoyed my weekend to. really think the weather's helped :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah - it definitely did!
DeleteHow lovely. I like the sound of the kale crisps!
