Magic Beans & an Exciting Announcement!

This month marks the two year anniversary of me registering as self-employed and I'm pretty proud of myself  that I've stuck at it.  The idea was always to have a little shop going alongside my other work to help keep us out of the "red" and although I had a bit of a try at Etsy in the beginning, it has fallen by the wayside somewhat whilst life has been going on.

In a bit of a brainstorming session at the start of the year I started thinking about what it was that I want to sell and it kept coming back to craft things.  The idea of selling raw crafting materials is (I like to think) a bit like selling magic beans because  - although I will only sell quality things that I believe in - it's the person that buys the products that will truly make it into something special, something they want.

I also wanted to make sure that what I sell is affordable.  Nice craft things are all well and good but if they're out of your price range then it's disappointing, isn't it?

And so it begins today, with yarn (where else!).  If you click on the Shop tab at the top of this page it will redirect you to a little online shop packed with lovely yarns, hand picked by me.  They are mostly yarns that I have used in the past and return to because I enjoy the quality as well as some new yarns - British, 100% organic and fairtrade, and some dreamy ones, too.  You will find products from well known brands at around 15% below the recommended retail price.

You will find that there is already a sale section - there are some discounted yarns in there that I'm not completely happy with the quality of, and so am selling off cheaply.  The shop will run in line with my policy on integrity, just as here on the blog - no spamming, no trying to sell you stuff I wouldn't want, buy or use myself.

I'm really excited about this new venture and am interested to see what you think of the things I have picked out.  I've had some of the stock in my office for more than a month and my family have been teasing me relentlessly that if I didn't get this shop up and running soon then I would end up knitting it all myself - they had a point, it's all gorgeously tempting!!

Wait, there's more!!
To celebrate the launch of the Home Baked Online Shop I am offering an additional 10% off with the coupon code ILOVEWOOL

So, can I tempt you with something woolly today?!...

  3. Oh well done you! I have had a peek. I have never been extravagant enough to buy such posh yarn but boy, do I window shop. Your shop is 'up there' now in the front of my mind, because the next time I buy - this will be my first stop. Beautifully chosen shades my dear! x
