The idea of being able to reach up and "snap" a home grown onion off a pretty, handmade display, when cooking, appealed to me greatly and it isn't something you can achieve with onions from the supermarket because you need the leaves.

I used the instructions in All Year Round and it turned out to be much easier than I'd thought.
It says in the book that it takes a bit of practice to get a really attractive display and I would agree with that.
It was a bit like a 3D jigsaw puzzle to fit the onions together without leaving big gaps.
I think it's pretty good for a first try though.
