I have purchased some proper bento boxes and stuff from eBay but in the meantime I had a go at a bento inspired lunch to take up to the allotment today. Here it is:

Pesto pasta with sweetcorn, carrot stars, cucumber stars, and parmesan cheese, yum! When I gave Cameron his lunch at the allotment today he said "why do you make such delicious lunches?!", I think that means he liked it!
I've set up a seperate blog for allotment news so that I don't clog this space with gardening stuff. We would love it if you would like to follow our allotment journey, we have called the blog Home Grown Education.
glad you liked the recommendation, looks like you took it and ran! Fab lunch, how did you do the stars - do you have a little cutter?
ReplyDeleteWill look forward to seeing what else you come up with :)
I did take it and run - I think it's fantastic! We have a little star cutter that we got at halloween to make starry eyes in our pumpkin. I was looking for icing cutters but there are bento cutters and punch out cutters for nori too if you search on ebay. I can't believe I haven't heard of it before. Thanks again :o)
ReplyDeleteNo problem, glad to be of assistance :)
ReplyDeleteQuestion, your blog isn't showing up its RSS feed any more, have you disabled it for a reason or is blogger just playing up?
Oh, I changed the setting to no preview blurb, maybe that's stopped it altogether. I've changed it back to short, it it working now?
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing it out.
Yup, that's working beautifully now, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteyay congrats on your allotment:-) I look forward to reading about how you and cameron getting along with it. I have never heard of Bentos before but it looks like yummy fun, I shall have to check it out
ReplyDeleteAll the best

Ooohh bento boxes, what a great idea, must look into that, may even try to make my own sushi, your bento inspired lunches look really pretty, I'm also at a loss sometimes about ideas for packed lunches, must try this!
ReplyDeleteHi, just found your blog via the Home Ed Uk Blogring.
ReplyDeleteWill be following your allotment with interest. We are only growing in pots this year but have had allotments in the past, gave up the last one when I fell pregnant with baby number four, but missing it a lot now.
We are growing potatoes, french beans, peas, tomatoes, beetroots and onions :)
Hi Kelly
ReplyDeleteNice to have you here.
We are growing in pots in the garden too as we didn't think we'd get an allotment this year!
